Glaucoma Evaluation

Glaucoma is a common eye disease. When you have glaucoma, drainage canal in your eye blocked. Increased pressure damaged your blood vessels and optic nerve. The prime risk group includes these over 60 and a family history of glaucoma. A high sugar diet increases glaucoma risk.

 

2.2 million Americans have glaucoma and 50% of them have no idea, but this disease can because of loss vision if not treated. Many patients with early glaucoma don’t have noticeable symptoms. Early detection can save your eyesight.

​Common Symptoms

  • Increased intraocular pressure

  • Narrow visual field

  • Atrophy optic nerve

  • Eyes color changed to red

  • Eye pain and headaches

  • Blurred vision

  • Seeing halos around lights

  • Fatigue of organs of vision

We provide at our Advanced Vision Center all the newest and latest technologies and equipment for a comprehensive glaucoma exam:

  • With tonometry we measure your inner eye pressure.

  •  

  • The visual field test allows us to see if you have lost any field of vision. This test measures central and side vision for each eye.

  •  

  • We use optical coherence tomography (OCT) to take a digital picture of your optic nerve. It is a technique for obtaining high-resolution images by using a focused laser beam to scan over the area of the eye fundus.

  •  

  • Gonioscopy helps us to see the iridocorneal angle.

  •  

  • Ultrasound pachymetry shows the cornea from every angle. Corneal thickness can be important to determine for glaucoma evaluation.

Glaucoma Management

The goal of glaucoma management is to low your intraocular pressure and to prevent further vision loss.

 

Depending on your type of glaucoma, treatment may include:

  • Eyedrops

  • Oral medications

  • Laser treatment

  • Surgery

Keep your eyes out for signs of glaucoma. Get screened regularly for glaucoma, especially if you have a family history of the condition.
