Age-related Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is an eye condition that may result in blurred central vision. Our central vision is called our macular and it is one of the most cherished structures for our vision. It helps us keep a crisp clear vision.

When macular degeneration shows up it starts causing damage and threatens what we all love most out our vision. The macula, an area located on the retina, is associated with clear and central vision. With age, the macula can begin to deteriorate - resulting in loss of central vision.

With proper detection and monitoring, we can slow the disease and help keep eyeballs (especially the macular) healthy.

Be sure to have your eyes examined and dilated every year to monitor for any changes. Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness. The good news is if diagnosed early, we have excellent treatments that can save vision!

Common Symptoms

While macular degeneration is not curable, early detection and treatment can slow - or even stop - the progression of the disease and reverse some of its damage.

We provide the most advanced non-invasive diagnostic testing such as the Macular OCT Scan, that uses light waves. With OCT, we can take pictures of your retina and choose the best and latest treatment for macular degeneration.
